You can enter these codes in the options menu using Controller 2, highlight "rest" and then input the following..

Adjust Lives: Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, B, A

Extra Continues: Up, X, Left, Y, Down, B, Right, A, Up, X
