Dark Cloud 2 Missable Photos Guide
This in my opinion is one of the most important guides for you to bookmark or pay attention to throughout the game. In this guide I will only cover the photographs in each chapter that you can miss. If you're a completionist you'll only have a single chance to grab these photos so you'll want to be prepared!
It's also worth mentioning here and in multiple other places that once you advance to the final Chapter, Chapter 8 - you'll be unable to take any photographs from the future as well as from the Moon Flower Palace dungeon. So be sure to get all that you need before progressing!!
Chapter 1 Missable Photos
Brave Little Linda (The Underground Channel)
For this photo you have to capture a picture of Linda while she is rearing to attack. You have to get close to her and run away, toying with her to get her to attack you. Otherwise she just chases you.
Clown Robo's Attack (The Underground Channel)
For this picture you have to take a picture of the clown robot thing Flotsam attacks you with while it has rockets coming out of its eyes.
Chapter 2 Missable Photos
King Mardan (Rainbow Butterfly Forest)
King Mardan is the giant fish you meet during Chapter 2 that asks you to catch a Priscleen to throw into his lake. You'll need to snap a picture of him during this time.
R. Butterfly United (Rainbow Butterfly Forest)
In order to take this picture you need to kill the butterflies in an incorrect order and then take a picture of them as they are reuniting above the flower. I just snapped a bunch of pictures really quickly since the moment you're waiting for is a fraction of a second after the butterfly completely forms again and before it flies away.
Blackstone One (Blackstone One)
This is the name of the train you ride from location to location on. You'll want to take a picture of it at one of the train stations between Chapter 1 - 5. You won't be able to take the picture after Chapter 5 again until late in Chapter 8.
Coal (Blackstone One)
This photograph can be taken inside Blackstone One in the Engine room. Much like the Fire House and Blackstone One pictures, you'll be able to take these pictures Chapter 1 - 5 but then you won't be able to take them for a few Chapters until late in Chapter 8.
Fire House (Blackstone One)
This photograph can be taken inside Blackstone One in the Engine room. Much like the Coal and Blackstone One pictures, you'll be able to take these pictures Chapter 1 - 5 but then you won't be able to take them for a few Chapters until late in Chapter 8.
Chapter 3 Missable Photos
Flying Battleship (Starlight Canyon)
The first time you can take a picture of the Flying Battleship is when you're ontop the Lighthouse in the Cape floor of the Starlight Canyon dungeon. When you're defending the Lighthouse and protecting Lin from the fires you'll want to take a moment to snap a picture of the Flying Battleship. There will be other moments in later Chapters as well, just remember to bust out your camera when you have control of Max at some point to grab a shot.
Phantom Memo Eater (Starlight Canyon)
For this photograph all you need to do is take a picture of the Phantom Memo Eater when you fight him on Yorda's Valley Floor. You don't need to wait for any particular animation.
Chapter 4 Missable Photos
Doctor Jaming (Ocean's Roar Cave)
For this Photograph you'll want to take a picture of Doctor Jaming while he is on his hover platform. You will have to be really close to him, almost directly under him for the picture to count. If you wait by Shingalas with their heads down it'll make it easier that way you know you won't be getting hit from behind.
You should also be able to take a picture of the Flying Battleship during this fight if you missed it in the previous chapter.
Puppet Shingala (Ocean's Roar Cave)
Take a picture of Shingala while he is being controlled on the dungeon floor, Cave of the Ancient Mural. You don't need to wait for him to do any sort of animation, just snap a photograph of him during the fight!
Chapter 5 Missable Photos
Cinders (Heim Rada)
Build and place a Straw House in Heim Rada as the cinders are falling over the town; before you blow up the Fire Squall. Leave and come back to find the house burnt down and a pile of ashes in its place. Take a picture of the ashes for this photo. This must be done before you blow up the Fire Squall and stop the fire raining over the town.
Fire Squall (Mount Gundor)
On the Mount Gundor Peak floor take a picture of the Fire Squall before you blow it up. It's the face of the giant machine where you place the bomb. Take a look at the picture below if you're confused of what to photograph!
The Ultimate Gaspard (Mount Gundor)
While fighting Gaspard take a picture of him when he turns into a giant flame giant. The first time you fight him here he'll be himself, then there'll be a cutscene. After that is when you fight his 'ultimate' form. Take a look at the picture below if you're still confused.
Geyser (Heim Rada)
Before you place a hardened mud pile over all the Geysers in Heim Rada you'll need to take a picture of one of them for this idea.
Chapter 6 Missable Photos
Dead Tree (Outside Moonflower Palace when you go 10,000 years in the past)
When the train goes back into time and stops at the Moon Flower Palace for the very first time snap a picture of one of the dead trees in the area.
Chapter 7 Missable Photos
Griffon's Real Face (Moon Flower Palace)
In the Moon Flower Palace dungeon you'll want to take a picture of Griffon's face right when the fight starts.
Golden Door (Moon Flower Palace)
In the Moon Flower Palace dungeon take a picture of the red and yellow door between the two Gargoyles. These doors are located on the Sun Chamber dungeon floor.
Labyrinth Door (Moon Flower Palace)
In the Moon Flower Palace dungeon you'll want to take a picture of the flower shaped exit located on the Sun Chamber dungeon floor.
Legend of the Moon (Dream Spiral)
At the top of the Dream Spiral during Chapter 7 you'll need to snap a picture of the moon once you reach the top of the stairs. You can see the moon before reaching the top but the photograph won't count for credit until the boss fight starts with the Dark Flesh guy.
**Once you finish the game and continue to Chapter 8 you will not be able to go to the future (anywhere) or back to Moonflower Palace.***
Chapter 8 Missable Photos
Flotsam Revived (Zelmite Mines)
Take a picture of Flotsam in the Zelmite Mines on the Suspicious Opening dungeon floor.
Mr. Big Shot's Shadow (Zelmite Mines)
Take a picture of the giant flying genie located on the Zelmite Mine Depths dungeon floor.
