Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness is a role-playing video game developed by Genius Sonority and published by Nintendo and The Pokemon Company. Part of the Pokémon franchise and released exclusively for the Nintendo GameCube, it is the sequel of the GameCube game "Pokémon Colosseum". The game takes place in Orre, the setting of Pokémon Colosseum's adventure mode. All of the Game Boy Advance Pokémon games can connect to this game through trading and Battle Mode.

Just like in Pokemon Colosseum, the main objective of the game is to capture Shadow Pokemon and purify them. Shadow Pokemon are captured using the "Snag Machine" and in this game, there are 83 different Shadow Pokemon to capture.
