Mt. Katatsumuri 2nd Route - Persona 2: Innocent Sin Guides

Mt Katatsumuri Decision

When you first enter Mt Katatsumuri during the main story events you'll be given a choice to either bust through the front entrance or to circle around and take the more secretive route. For those of you who accidentally chose the secretive route - I am sorry this happened to you and this guide is for you.

Choosing the secretive route forces you to go through a very annoying and confusing dungeon called Mt. Katatsumuri Detour Area. In order to complete this dungeon you have to memorize a poem and then follow the stone Signposts which recite the poem correctly. This dungeon is extremely annoying and very easy to mess up and go the wrong way.

Thankfully for you, Almar-sensei is here to help (too much weeb?). I've put together a written guide with many pictures to help you figure out the correct route through this dungeon. Anyone who doesn't like using written guides for stuff like this can use my Mt Katatsumuri Detour Area Youtube Video instead! That video shows you how to solve this entire puzzle as well.

Below is the poem that you can read at the start of this dungeon - I copied it word for word.

Mt Katatsumuri Poem:

Into the deep mountain forest
A Lost wanders

What opens day is sun's light
What opens night is heaven's stars
One by one, they show the way

These are the guides of the lost
These are the silent words of deep love

Beyond the wordless guardian deities
The distant forest shall open

Signpost #4:

One by one, they show the way
These are the guides of the lost

This is a good marker for the Mt. Katatsumuri maze puzzle, I think it's worth pointing out this location since it's easy to distinguish this area when compared to the others. In this area you will find a chest with 3 Beads inside of it - this is pictured on the map above and in the screenshot below.

All in all this area is very small and the correct exit is by turning around and going through the same path that you entered from; use my map screenshot above for better directions.

In order to reach the side of the map with this Signpost you'll need to travel through a secret passage in the northeastern part of the first area. You can see the secret passage on my map in the top left, it's the green strip connecting the two sides together.
