A Better Engine Blade Quest Chain - Hammerhead

A Better Engine Blade is a chain of quests given to you by Cid at Hammerhead Station. Cid will give you the first of these quests early on in the game if/when you acquire the neccessary items to begin the quest. For this quest you'll need to find the Engine Blade item. There are a total of three quests in this chain, A Better Engine Blade I, A Better Engine Blade II and, of course, A Better Engineblade III. I'll be covering all three of these quests on this page.

Each of these quests requires you to collect an item from somewhere in the world and as you upgrade each weapon the rarity of the item you have to find increases substantially. For the first quest you'll need to find a Rusted Bit which is very common and found just about anywhere. The final quest for the Ultima Blade requires a Sturdy Helixhorn which is extremely rare. Ultima Blade is this Final Fantasy's version of the Ultimate Weapon and is an item you'll be using on Noctis for quite a long time.

Below is a quick list of the items required for completing each of the three quests:

A Better Engine Blade: Rusted Bit
A Better Engine Blade II: Glass Gemstone
A Better Engine Blade III: Sturdy Helixhorn

Sturdy Helixhorn: You can only obtain this item from two different enemies, both of which are farmable from Hunts. Duplicorns from the Old Lestallum Hunt - The Last Spiracorns or from Leukorns which are from the Old Lestallum - Scrap It Now! Hunt. Both of these hunts require you to be a Bounty Hunter Rank 7 and they're both repeatable.

In order to get the Sturdy Helixhorn from these enemies you'll actually need to perform a "Break" during combat by Warp-Striking to their horns and attacking it.
