Harvest Moon Magical Melody - Rucksack Upgrades

Upgrading your Rucksack in Harvest Moon is a really big deal if you didn't already know! The very first upgrade is easy to get, you get it from the Junk store right in town! You'll have to cough up 1,000G for the upgrade which is really cheap compared to what you're getting.

The second upgrade is a bit harder to get. First you need Martha to move into town which happens by becoming friends with Alex. Or if you're lazy, Alex likes herbs so if you happen to come by any of them in the forest areas be sure to give them to him. Also Coral from the beach is a great way to raise his friendship level with you. Eggs from your chickens too.

After you become friends with Alex one day when you stop by the Clinic Martha will introduce herself to you. Now, you must become friends with her (at least two hearts, just like with Alex)! Reference my Friendship guide if you want other ideas than just feeding gifts to her. Otherwise, what I fed Martha a lot of is eggs. She doesn't love eggs but she likes them and it raises your friendship points with her very quickly.

After you've raised your friendship level with her to two hearts you need to keep visiting her until a scene triggers and she tells you that she needs you to bring her some Yarn and in exchange she'll make you a bigger bag. Triggering this scene was random for me and took about two weeks after reaching two hearts. I didn't reach three hearts before the scene happened though, but I did keep raising Martha's heart level during those two weeks.
