Metro 2033 Redux: Walkthrough - Chapter 2
This page includes walkthroughs for every mission in Chapter 2 of Metro 2033 Redux. My guide will provide you with videos for each mission along with a written guide to explain where every Diary and Moral Point you can find is. In order to get the Enlightened Ending you'll need to beat the game with 50+ Moral Points; this means being stealthy on most missions and avoiding killing humans.
My videos don't take the stealthy route through each mission since that would take much longer and the path we all use will be different while stealth. They will show you where all the Safe Keys and Safes are found and how to complete the mission. My written walkthrough on the other hand, will include everything. I provide you with multiple strategies on some missions (like the Library) and additional videos to show you where certain easter eggs are (like on the Front Line mission).
If you'd like to skip ahead to a certain chapter, follow the link below. My final note to you involves the ingame Compass. If you ever get lost take out your Compass and follow the arrow; this will help you get through the mission.

Riga Mission Walkthrough

Rumble Video Walkthrough: Riga Mission Walkthrough
You begin Chapter 2 in Riga drinking with your friends for surviving the rail cart ride. When you regain control of Artyom grab the Diary in the bar and then head out. As you walk through town you'll find two people arguing with a guard, go down the hallway to the left of them. Down this hall you'll find a homeless guy with his head down, give him some ammo for a Moral Point.
There are many beggars throughout Riga so you can choose whichever one you want, only the first one that you give ammo to will give you a Moral Point. From the beggar I just mentioned above, if you turn left and then go into the room on the right you will find our second Diary sitting on a bench.
Return to where you came from and continue down the hall until you find a kid that asks "Are you Artyom?". He offers to take you to someone who is waiting for you in exchange for a bullet; agree to this and give him a bullet for a Moral Point. Follow the kid to the room with Bourbon, have a seat and talk with him and then grab the Diary from behind him when you're done.
When you're ready to advance the game tell Bourbon that you're ready and follow him to the next level.
Lost Tunnel Walkthrough

At the start of this level follow Bourbon until you reach an area that you can turn left into. Bourbon will pause near this location to speak for a bit too, you'll want to crouch down near the pipes on the right and listen. When you hear laughter you'll earn a Moral Point. If you're interested in getting a Pneumatic weapon you can find one in the tunnel off to the left, you'll have to fight a few Stalker enemies though (they're easy, don't worry).
Once you've grabbed the weapon return to the pipe that you heard the laughter at and listen again, you'll be given another Moral Point. Sometimes you will get damaged too if you stick around too long. Keep following Bourbon and eventually he will stop and mention the caravanner enemies ahead. When you get this dialogue flag look around for the Safe Key to the safe ahead (if you want it). You will find the safe that this key opens in the back of the large room with multiple enemies that you're about to clear.
Now is your first real stealth mission of the game, you will need to avoid the trip wire and cans in this area otherwise the bandits will hear you. If your goal is to get the Enlightened Ending (meaning you need 50+ Moral Points) you'll want to avoid killing anyone. Each time you kill someone it's -1 Moral Point and that will add up quick!
Your best bet is to sneak around and knock out as many enemies as you can. Let Bourbon kill the rest of them since I don't think that costs you Moral Points and it definitely doesn't cost you ammo! After the large room with about 8 enemies you'll want to follow Bourbon to a red door that he opens. He'll comment about the bridge ahead being a nasty place, when he does search the area for a Diary (it's found on top of an electricity box).
The next area you come to will be a large room with a bridge going across. You'll be ambushed by Nosalis enemies a few times in this location, fend them off and continue through. As you're going through Bourbon will tell you to take cover and avoid being seen by a raider patrol. If you crouch behind something and avoid detection you'll get a Moral Point.
Keep following Bourbon and you will eventually come to a graveyard; in this area you will get 3 super natural scenes. The first two you don't have to do anything for but during the third you need to sprint towards Bourbon and pull him through the gate. Failing this will result in a game over.
If you're interested, when Bourbon reaches the large circular room and takes a look inside, you can take a quick detour for a Safe Key. To get this key you will need to jump from platform to platform in this circular room, you'll be lead to a body that you can disturb and loot the key from.
From here the rest of the level is pretty linear, follow Bourbon and he will lead you to a large locked door. There will be an event at this location where you're swarmed by Nosalis enemies. When the event is finished you will want to climb down the ladder and enter the water area below. Down here you can find a route that leads to a room with the Diary as well as the safe that is opened using the key we just found.
Market Walkthrough

Rumble Video Walkthrough: Market Mission Walkthrough
This is a rather short level, behind one of the guards at the start sitting on a bench will be a Diary. Grab this and follow Bourbon again once you run into him. If you're interested in getting Achievements make sure you stop at the bar and have a drink here too, it counts towards an Achievement.
Early on in the Market you can find the Safe Key hanging in a box above some guard guy. Grab that and take the key to the bus at the start of the mission, you'll find the safe it opens here. When you reach the market part of town approach the older guy sitting on the floor talking to a child, give him some ammo for a Moral Point.
Continue through the market and keep an eye out for someone grinding metal in the room with the shops. This is where you'll find the second Diary. Once you have everything you want here return to Bourbon at the bar and follow him out of town, this will complete the mission.
Dead City Walkthrough

Rumble Video Walkthrough: Dead City Mission Walkthrough
This level is one of the longer missions of the game and it will get you used to the outside world above the Metro. In the first square you come to with Bourbon he will scavenge some bodies and tell you to do the same. You'll find a Safe Key in this area which opens a safe up the stairs on the floor above you. Be warned though as there are a couple of trip wires which you'll want to disarm as you head upstairs!
Upstairs you'll want to look out of the window for a Moral Point (you will see a Watcher outside growling) and enter the room at the end of the hall for another Moral Point. You'll find the safe that your key opens in this room as well as another Diary which you can pick up. Return to Bourbon when you're done and you'll leave the safety of this area and step out into the streets of Moscow.
Follow Bourbon for a scene and then dodge the Demon. You will need to travel in the opposite direction of Bourbon into a large abandoned building. On the first floor of this building you'll find a Safe Key inside of the room in the center. You'll have to jump through a broken window to get in here and the room will be heavily irradiated.
The safe that this key opens is found nearby on this same floor. Once you've got that, our goal is to go upstairs in this building to the third floor. You'll trigger some scenes up here, a voice will tell you "Safe" or "Save" depending on your language settings. Shortly after where you witness this scene there will be a hallway with a corpse at the end - beyond this corpse is a path you can follow outside (pictured below).
Go outside beyond this corpse to continue
Before going outside you'll want to fall down the elevator shaft near this corpse. This will take you to a stash of loot and reward you with a Moral Point for some reason. After looting this stash you'll need to fall down back to the first floor and then cycle through the entire building a second time.
After walking past the corpse on the third floor you'll find yourself in another outside section. There will be some Watchers in this area and some loot for you to collect, follow the linear path through the snow and up the stairs to a door. When you open this door you'll have a scene where a Watcher attacks Artyom, you'll have to spam your action button during this time to defeat it.
Travel through this building and into another outside area. As you travel through this outside area you'll have a short scene where you'll hear laughter along with "he can stop death" whispered to you. Shortly after this scene you'll have another scene where your entire view changes to a playground in the old world. During this scene stop moving and don't shoot to gain a Moral Point. You will lose Moral Points if you open fire during this scene or run through it too quickly.
Tip: In the original Metro 2033 you'll gain a Moral Point for taking your mask off during this scene. This doesn't count in Metro 2033 Redux.
In the area following this scene you'll see a lone Watcher. Don't shoot him or you'll lose a Moral Point. Keep an eye out in the next area for a white storage container, exit it and go to the right to find a building you can enter. Inside you'll trigger a scene with a car alarm from before the war, that is your marker letting you know you found the right place. Explore this entire building because you will earn another Moral Point for entering the back room.
Exit the building in the same direction that you see some Watchers outside. This is where things can start to get confusing for some people because there are so many different ways you can go. I strongly recommend you go left to start, don't cross the river yet.
Left will lead you into an apartment building where you'll have a flashback scene of kids watching a TV. You'll also find some loot and a Diary in this area, take your time and explore the nooks and crannies. When you're done exit the building and travel across the river this time. There are a few places you can explore in this area too, one area will have a Watcher mother who is protecting her young. Do not shoot this monster otherwise you will lose a Moral Point and you'll also have to deal with a pack of Watchers who come for revenge.
When you're ready to progress scare away the Demon and continue up the hill in that direction. If you're having trouble figuring out which part of the building you can walk through, what you're looking for is a sign that says "Dry" with an arrow pointing towards the path. On older versions of the game it will be a sign of a pedestrian walking down stairs instead (it looks exactly like a road sign from what I saw in videos). A picture of the Dry sign is shown below so you know what to look for.
Look for the sign titled 'Dry'
Search the building you enter thoroughly, one section will have a bunch of trip wires along with a tape recorder that you can play for a Moral Point. Next to that tape recorder you will find tons of ammo on the table, search the whole room for more loot. The 'other direction' is the path that you'll need to follow to the next level. When following that route you'll be lead through a very radioactive area and back outside. You'll meet up with Bourbon again out here.
Follow Bourbon until you reach a fork, he will go to the left and you should go down the small set of stairs to the right. You'll find a corpse you can loot down here and yet another Safe Key. The building above these stairs is where you will find the safe that this key unlocks. Be careful going inside as you will find multiple trip wires. There is also a Diary to be found in this location.
After opening the safe and collecting all the loot return to Bourbon outside and follow him. You'll reach a scripted fight involving some Watchers and Demons. Follow Bourbon when he runs off and jump into the building with him to get back into the Metro (and to relative safety). This will conclude the mission and the chapter.
