Unknown World Companion Guide Walkthrough - Kotor 1
On this page you'll find my Companion Guide for Unknown World in Kotor 1. This guide is designed to be used as a companion while you're playing the game, hence the name "Companion Guide". If you want to have your phone out while you play and don't feel like scrolling through a guide with no pictures - you can simply use the map locations on this page instead.
My Companion Guide will show you an overview of each location on each planet along with any points of interest on that map you can visit. NPCs involved in Side Quests or events that give Dark Side/Light Side Points are most of what I point to. Some story events will be marked too along with rare or good items if I felt that they were worth mentioning.
This guide goes hand in hand with my Unknown World Walkthrough which is built more like a traditional hand-holding walkthrough. Last but not least, when playing the game I liked having a checklist that reminded me of how and where to update the story on each planet, so I have included that at the top of each page too.
To advance the story on Unknown World...
1. Visit the North Beach and meet 'The One'
2. Head to the South Beach and grab the Ship Parts which you pass along the way
3. Go into The Elder compound and have some dialogue with them
4. Choose to help The One and kill The Elders OR choose to help The Elders and kill The One
5. Use whatever group still lives for assistance with entering the temple
6. Ditch your party members then go to the ritual site for a scene
7. Inside the temple go downstairs and interact with the computer to open the doors to the summit
8. On the summit fight with Bastila and decide your destiny
9. Lower the shields in the temple and then return to the Ebon Hawk for more cutscenes
10. Repair your ship and leave the planet
Central Beach - Unknown World
When you crash land on the Unknown World this is the first area you'll set foot. You'll be attacked by two waves of Rakatan enemies while you're leaving this area and after the first wave a pair of Duros will come out to talk to you. If you want some Dark Side Points kill the Duros. Otherwise head on up to North Beach when you're ready to continue with the story.
North Beach - Unknown World
Warleader Garn: So long as you are friendly with this Rakata tribe you'll be able to talk with Warleader Garn and complete this side quest. I'd recommend you do this ASAP and turn it in too if you're going to be siding with The Elders and helping them. Once you visit The Elder Settlement you'll have to kill them if you still want to complete this quest - otherwise Warleader Garn and every other Rakata associated with the Rakatan Settlement will be hostile.
Rakatan Settlement - Unknown World
Prisoner: If you choose to help The Elders during the story for this planet this is the prisoner they'll ask you to free from the compound.
Ship Parts: To leave this planet you'll need to collect a pair of these Ship Parts. Along with the one in the Rakatan Settlement there is one in South Beach, right before The Elder base.
Loremaster: You can earn XP by asking him about The One's history (1100xp) as well as about the history of his people (500xp). Speaking to him is not required but recommended for the bonus xp.
Temple Exterior - Unknown World
Mandalorian Ambush: When approaching this area a group of Mandalorian enemies will ambush you; their captain's head is for the Warleader Garn Side Quest.
South Beach - Unknown World
Rancors: One of the very few enemies in the entire game that respawns can be found here. They only respawn a few times but you can use them for some late game XP farming.
Ship Parts: In order to leave this planet you'll need to collect Ship Parts for the Ebon Hawk, this pair of parts is by far the easiest to collect on the whole island. There will even be a scene when you first enter this area of a Gizka blowing up from a mine.
Elder Settlement - Unknown World
Researcher Ll'awa: Choosing to side with The Elder settlement will allow you to pick up and complete a Side Quest from Researcher Ll'awa. Alternatively, if you choose to kill The Elders then you'll be able to loot a key on Researcher Ll'awa's corpse which can be used to open the cages in the same room.
Keeper Orsaa: If you choose to side with 'The One' then you'll need to kill Keeper Orsaa and loot the book on his body. Otherwise, Keeper Orsaa will give you some information about the Rakatan past on this planet.
Temple Main Floor - Unknown World
Throughout this entire temple you'll find tons of goodies including top of the line Stims, Lightsaber Crystals, Medpacs and more. I recommend you be extremely thorough when exploring and gather up all you can. Keep in mind that from now until the end of the game there will be no vendors so there's no point in picking up vendor trash.
Our goal to advance the story forward is to visit the Temple Catacombs and use the computer in the basement to open the doors to the Summit.
DJ: This event with a pair of Dark Jedi is your only opportunity for Light Side/Dark Side Points on the Temple Main Floor. Tell the Dark Jedi you are Revan no more and you'll get Light Side Points; telling them you're Revan and they should kneel before you will garner you Dark Side Points.
Temple Catacombs - Unknown World

PC: You'll need to interact with this computer to open the doors to the Temple Summit as well as to complete the Researcher Ll'awa Side Quest.
